Federal IT buzz

Interesting developments in federal IT:

• Last month the Review of Australian Government's Use of Information and Communication Technology by Sir Peter Gershon was announced - see http://www.financeminister.gov.au/media/2008/mr_112008.html. He achieved significant cost and staffing reductions in the UK review (see http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/media/C/A/efficiency_review120704.pdf) - an opportunity for librarians to point out the contribution they make to efficiency?; and
  
• the government is considering an "IT strike force" perhaps as a part of AGIMO to oversee changes to legacy system http://www.australianit.news.com.au/story/0,2489appalling7,23762858-15306,00.html
